Hydrotherapy/ Colon Therapy in Santa Monica

Eastern-Western Integrative Medicine

Numerous studies have shown that water in all forms can have healing properties and is therapeutic and relaxing. Water is the most basic of life sources and provides energy, vitality and rejuvenation to the entire planet. Our bodies need water and in modern medicine, this simple and healing form can be greatly overlooked. Hydrotherapy is the medical process of using water to eliminate pain, inflammation and other ailments. At Balanced Life Institute, we are proud to offer a variety of hydrotherapy treatments to our patients. Working a Santa Monica integrative Eastern-Western medical practitioner from our team can greatly benefit your overall health and well-being.

Hydrotherapy can be used in many different ways and depending on the patient, their health concerns and their preference, we can provide the right therapy for them. Some common hydrotherapy treatments include:

  • Warm water baths — The bather simply soaks in warm water. Sometimes minerals or oils are added for additional benefits.
  • Sitz baths — The bather alternates between two tubs — one hot, one cold. While they are in one tub, their feet are in the other, then they switch.
  • Steam baths — Bathers sit in warm, vaporized rooms and sweat out toxins. In some cases, aromatherapy can be implemented as well.
  • Saunas — These are hot, dry rooms where individuals sit to release toxins from their system. Saunas can help reduce muscle pain and inflammation.
  • Compresses — Hot or cold compresses can be applied directly to the skin. These often speed-up recovery for sports injuries or illnesses.
  • Ice baths — Athletes can greatly benefit from ice baths as they have been known to flush toxins, restrict blood vessels and expedite the healing process.
  • Foot baths — As simple as they sound, foot baths are wonderful for releasing tension, stopping aches and pains and of course, simple relaxation.
